The Toy for the Rich and The Famous – Private Jets (Learjet)

From today’s ultra chic, state-of-the-art private jets to Lockheed’s 1957 Jetstar, this documentary investigates the history, the luxury, and technology of America’s corporate jets. We meet a few of the men and women who pioneered them–Bill Lear, Clyde Cessna and his nephews, Walter and Olive Beech.
When Bill Lear set out to create his first jet, the Learjet 23, he had never developed or built a jet aircraft in his life.
In 1940, Boeing introduced the Stratoliner, the first aircraft with a pressurized cabin. It was a derivation of the B-17 bomber and was first used bt TWA.
In 1910, seven years after the first flight by the Wright Brothers, Frenchman Henry Coanda flew the first jet-propelled aircraft. When his idea failed to catch on, Coanda abandoned it.
